Blog Award!!!

This morning I began my day as usual on an art fair morning. I got my e-mail before heading out to Starbucks! Much to my surprise I found this sweet note from fellow blogger, Laurie Beggin. She's been reading my blog and gave me this thoughtful award. Thanks Laurie! And thank you for becoming a member of NAIA!
Laurie stated that my blog "broadens her mind and recharges her spirit." Cool!!
This is the beauty of putting your words out into the world. You never know who they will touch, and who may smile because of them.
I have found blogging to be a cathartic and invigorating way to share my work and words with others.
To those who read this, you have my thanks!
I love hearng from you!
Keep the comments coming!
You motivate me as well!

★★★ 73,000 + People ★★★

Yes, 73,000 + people have filled The Denver Mile HIgh Stadium to bear witness to history in the making. Barack Obama will accept the nomination for President of the Untied States of America!
He does so in a stadium packed with individuals who want change! Not only want change, demand change!
He does so on the 45th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King.
He does so on the heels of 8 years of failed leadership, failed potential and mis-use of power.
He does so as millions of Americans have lost their insurance, their homes, their jobs, their hope.
He does so in a stadium with more than 73,000 unified Democrats rallying for a cause.
He does so in a stadium that has welcomed former Republicans to voice their anger with their party.
He does this tonight.
With history in the making, the power of the people on his side, and a demeanor befitting a born leader,
Barack Obama will be center stage tonight and on election evening as we elect the next President of our country!
He does this to define and make real the promise of democracy.

I have hope!

★ Democratic Convention ★

For the Democratic convention,
the Democratic ticket of Obama-Biden.....
motivate
translate,
intitiate
and
invigorate
the
weary masses
the uninsured
the left out
the unmotivated
the poor
the rich
the short-sighted.
The people who can't afford one home.

This is my prayer.
This is my passionate hope.

★★★ Change Is On The Way!! ★★★

I have one home.
There are times when I wonder how I can pay for it.
Do you need 7 homes?
Do you need 10 homes?
I don't begrudge wealth.
I do question the moral compass of people who run for President of the Untited States
who have no clue what life for it's inhabitants is really like.
How can you be for the people when you have no idea what kind of lives real people have?

My hope and my prayer for this country is seated in Change!

Vote!

Open your eyes!
Become informed.
Articulate the facts.
Make change happen.
All is within your power.

It is your moral obligation as a citizen of this planet!
It's about passion.
It's about restoring what so many have fought and died for!

~~ Relaxing ~~

This last week, we took a few days to unwind with friends in the countryside of Wisconsin. With cumulous clouds effortlessly hanging above, our trip provided vistas of cornfields and family farms. A grand reminder of the bounty of the earth and the farmers who practice this time-honored profession.
After a few days of down time, laughter and tequila, we continued on to the shores of Lake Michigan. For this native Floridian raised on Gulf Beaches, the sand and sun did me good! We spent several hours basking in the wind and feeding the gulls. The soft sand was much like that of the sugar sand of the Gulf. Looming on the horizon was the skyline of Chicago. A reminder that this was indeed a lake!
Later that day we set up our booth for the show that weekend. The breeze off the Lake still with us, we prepared for a good show. I was the shows featured artist. The pre-show publicity with our images didn't hurt. Sales were few but we're following leads that we feel will pan out. By mid-Saturday, a second place red ribbon graced our booth!!!

There's nothing like the enormity of a body of water and endless sky to put things in perspective! I think sitting in our sand chairs for a few hours, being washed by the wind and sun did just that for us.
Managing stress has become a full time gig these days. We treasure the 'windows of peace' as I call them. Those often elusive moments when stress melts and peace flows.
...........Just breathing!
Some days it's easier than others.

Below a short Haiku poem I wrote:

Gulf beaches
were home.

Sun sand kissed love
endless warmth.

I began life there.

Happy week everyone!

༺• Womens Art Box •༻

Hi All,
Todays entry, be it a bit late, is the last in my "week of boxes" series. It was fun to focus on one theme and let my boxes speak for me. This is what art does!
It speaks.
I believe that art finds its rightful owner and the right owner finds the right art!
Some of my boxes 'spoke to you', and you answered! For that I send my sincere thanks!

A dear friend of mine, Geri, was talking to me about this body of work the other night and she said this:
"I just know, and knew, in my heart that Tattoo Dreams are artistically and personally addictive. I think in part because at the moment you see a piece the words and images conjure up the personal and then the piece is yours, weather you buy it or not, it is yours. Buying the piece of course makes so much sense since then that feeling, or another after you get it home and begin looking at it every day, those feelings are invoked in your own space." Thanks Geri!

Upside Down Box

★´¨)
¸,•´¸.•¤´¨} ¸.•*¨)
(¸.*´ (¸.*`¤~ Today I'm featuring my Upside Down Box. Great for anyone with a good sense of humor! !! Lots of altered images on this box......All was going great when I did this box.............until I went to open it and low and behold, I realized it was upside down!!! Not to fear, I sanded and stamped what was the botton, made it the top and all became right. Well sorta...........the images on the sides of the box are more suited to being seen the 'other' way. Notice, I didn't say it's a "mistake".............no art is a mistake....it's just a most unique box that became even more altered than I'd planned.

To those of you reading my blog and buying my work........a BIG thank you!! One of the greatest compliments an artist can get, is to have someone hand over their hard earned money for a piece in exchange. Mano to mano my amigo!! And so goes the circle of making and selling art!

Happy Thursday!
