IWIN Breast Cancer Donation

Featured on my blog today is a donation I've made to the 2009 IWIN Foundation for their annual fundraising event. IWIN is an acronym for Indiana Women in Need. This Pink Pajama Party takes place Feb 27th and 28th. Go here for more information:http://www.iwinfoundation.org/
This TattooDream Box will become part of their silent auction held in conjunction with their Pink Pajama Party event. IWIN helps women who have breast cancer by lending a hand to them in the way of financial help to maintain and make their lives easier. I don't think any such group was around when my Mom was going through her breast cancer treatment 35 years ago. Finding wigs that looked decent and undergarments and falsies was difficult. I remember going with my Mom and being her 'consultant' at the ripe age of 14.

I hope this box will render some revenue to the event and smiles to the new owner.
I wish them every success and look forward to helping them next year. This is a cause near to my heart.

Gallery 406 Exhibit, Bloomington Indiana

February has been a busy month for Jon and I here at Purple Hill. Daily, we assess where things are and continually aim to find new ways to promote what we do or how people view or access our work. The current economy has us continually thinking!
February has found us with 2 different exhibits of my two bodies of work in two different galleries. The Orchard Gallery in Fort Wayne has my TattooDreams rubber stamped work.
Gallery 406 in Bloomington has my Hecker Design mixed media sculptures.
Above are two images of Gallery 406. This newly renovated space on South Walnut in Bloomington houses the studio of local photographer Kendall Reeves as well as his new gallery. The airy, light filled space with coffee-toned concrete floors provides a beautiful showcase for my work this month. While there, be sure to view Kendall's work as well. He has a magnificent selection of images he sells to the faithful IU Alumni that will tug at their nostalgic hearts and conjure up memories of college days in Bloomington.
My cherry frames and earthy colors look lucious there and I hope, if you're in the area, you'll go in and look around. Jon and I are grateful for this mid-winter opportunity to showcase our work in both venues!

(¸.*´ (¸.*`¤~ Here is my Art Big Box. This art box is handmade by my husband Jon. Made of maple, it measures 6" wide and 6" deep and 11" tall. Deduct 1" on the width and depth for inner measurements as this allows for the thickness of the walls. An artsy box with bright red feet and purple eyelash trim. The top opens by way of a wooden lift off lid with red ball handle and purple trim. Inside, the bottom is lined with sultry black velvet. The inside rim is painted red.
A box this size could be used for many purposes even as a funeral urn to hold our beloved in a most artful way. This is my largest box so far and it really shows well where it's placed in your home or studio! The large surface area allows for lots of imagery and was a blast to do!
