TattooDreams Art Vessel

This one of a kind handmade cherry box measures 8" wide x 8" deep x 19" tall (20.32 cm x 20.32 cm x 48.26 cm). Handmade in our Bloomington, Indiana studio by my husband Jon and rubber stamped by me. There have only been a handful of these one of a kind vessels made so far. I'm proud to present this one to you my TattooDreams collectors.

Many hours went into this box and the detailed purple finial that sits on top. Attached to the finial are a myriad of beads and torn and knotted silk. From this hangs glass and handmade wooden beads. This ephemera only adds to the fun factor on this one of a kind box. Lined on the bottom with black velvet, this artsy box could store dreams or be used as a ceremonial art vessel or the respectful keeper of a loved ones ashes- or nothing at all.

TattooDreams Mask Vessel

This new vessel has been delivered to the Orchard Gallery to be part of their Artful Box 2 Exhibit. Handmade of cherry and adorned with pistachio shells, glass beads, seeds, knotted silk and an elaborately painted finial. The stamps I used on this vessel are from my mask and Adinkra symbols collection and represent various cultures. There's a tribal feel to this collectable art piece. More wonderful boxes of all types and materials will be on display and ready to add to your collection.

Fourth Street Festival of the Arts & Crafts

This coming Labor Day weekend we'll be doing our local art festival here in Bloomington. Located downtown on 4th Street, this artist run show is a true celebration of the arts in this enigmatic town. There we'll see everyone we know, lots of friends and hopefully be selling lots of TattooDreams work!

Tonight I finished this new Artists Affirmations Vessel. It'll be in my booth this weekend. This vessel is handmade by Jon of cherry, airbrushed, stamped and tied with ephemera. Adorned with shells, sea urchin spines, glass beads, waxed linen, silk,hand stamped beads and bamboo. Vessels this size cold be used as cremation urns.
What a way to go!!

TattooDreams Booth Shot

Art fair artists set up their mobile galleries in a 10' x10' footprint. Some opt for larger booths. Extra costs are double booths and corner access. All these criteria affect the layout and flow of traffic ones work will generate. This is my new booth!
Jon built the panels and, for the time being, the walls are raw wood. He did a magnificent job! Plans include wrapping each panel in carpet. As funds allow, this will transpire.

Selling a body of craft differs greatly from selling art for the wall. How I interact with the collector is different, and I'm learning so much by watching them interact with my work. Also I'm learning who gravitates to this body of work, in essence, 'who is my target market'? It's all good. I needed a new challenge and the psychology of sales has long fascinated me and understanding it directs how I market my work.


My TattooDreams are inspired by the images that resonate deep within our minds at rest. Oftentimes these dreams are awoken later the following day when some visual, scent or memory of a dream is recalled. The mind is a fascinating place to sketch our ideas, transform our thoughts and create inspired artistry. Dreaming is 'billable time' since my ideas come to me in my dreams! Being asleep and unconscious at the same time is awesome!
Thanks for your continued encouragement as I explore part of myself and this new body of work takes shape!
